Vienna Seventh-day Adventist Church Improves PHFS Facility
SDA Pathfinders Mission
Comes to Shelter House
The Vienna Seventh-day Adventist Church and its youth mission, the Pathfinders came to the Patrick Henry Family Shelter in July as part of their annual mission project. Instead of traveling abroad, the SDA chose to help out in the Fairfax community and spent an entire week improving our facility. Projects included major landscaping improvements, the construction of a covered pavilion for our families to enjoy and major improvements to our Community Room, the hub of our childrens' programs. The projects not only helped to improve our programs, but served as a team building opportunity for youths learning the joys of giving back.
We sincerely thank the Vienna Seventh-day Adventist Church and its Pathfinders group for its amazing contribution. To find out more about them, please visit:

HomeAid of Northern Virginia
Improves Shelter House Residences

Shelter House is indebted to HomeAid of Northern Virginia, who recently renovated a townhouse owned by Shelter House and used for transitional housing. While these types of projects are usually just renovation and fix up, Miller and Smith (the builder captain) went beyond anyone's expectations and also furnished the entire house. In all, the value of the work, materials, and appliances is estimated at about $25,000. A very lucky family consisting of a single mom with 5 children, moved into the unit in June. The mother was elated when she saw the home for the first time and shed tears of joy for her new beautiful home.
